This Thursday Homelab Brisbane is meeting at Carindale Library at 6.30 p.m.
Baz from Bitcoin Brisbane <https://www.meetup.com/en-au/bitcoin_brisbane/> and BneBitDevs <https://www.meetup.com/en-au/bitcoin_brisbane/events/315569287/?eventOrigin=group_past_events> is presenting. He is a co-ordinator for both these groups and is passionate about building a community that values hard money that can be self-hosted and managed independent of fiat monetary system.
Modern software stacks like Umbrel <https://umbrel.com/?country=AU> and Start9 <https://start9.com> enable you to be your own bank; to hold and to store your own money; and to spend it privately and conveniently. Baz will cover how Bitcoin compares to current monies (AUD, USD, Gold...) but go a little deeper on the functions of Bitcoin Core, Electrs <https://github.com/romanz/electrs/blob/master/README.md>; Lightning <https://lightning.network>, Alby Hub <https://getalby.com/alby-hub>; Alby Go <https://getalby.com/alby-go>; NOSTR <https://nostr.org> and Fountain <https://blog.fountain.fm>.
For the homelabber adding Umbrel to manage your money is just another node on your network. Come Thursday night to see how to enable it.
For those attending the meeting at Carindale Library this evening, finding Meeting Room 1 for the first time can be a little tricky.
The entry is down the stairs to the entry (E) and across to the hallway (H) on the far side of the library to get to Meeting Rooms 1 and 2.
